Etcetera: Not So Happy Endings? A guy saves the world and falls in love. But noooooo, that can't be the end of it, huh? Evidently when they say "succession of witches" they mean it. ... Umm, ok. That intro was lame. Scratch that. ^^;; This section is actually about the Ultimecia Theory, or the idea of some that Rinoa is actually Sorceress Ultimecia from the future. I first heard about this at Apocalypse, my affiliate, so thanks goes to her otherwise I never would have even thought about it. ^^;; Lol, I just kinda started typing this section type thing and didn't edit it or anything, so half the time I'm arguing with myself XD I left it like that though, because on both sides it made sense. Before I let you go on and read my opinion, lemme state just that - it's my opinion, you don't have to agree, whatever! In fact, I'm not even trying to prove this one way or the other - I'm simply stating why and why it might not be. 'Cause I was bored. ^^;; This section is, therefore, ultimately pointless and only opinion, but.. well.. too bad. ^^;; Also, I didn't actually do very much research on this beforehand, because I know people at FF8 message boards argue about this.. so if I go and read around a little bit the section might eventually get some tweaking. Allrighty, now you can go! ^^;; Allright, this is something that most people don't mention much. I'm not sure if I've ever read this anywhere, but after reading the Ulty theory and thinking about it this is one of the more obvious reasons for Ulty proof I could think of! Why is it that after Rinoa inherited Edea's power, Ultimecia made Rinoa go into the coma? Why not do something with her? Because she KNEW. She knew that if she made Rinoa comatose, Squall would take her to space to see Ellone. And then she as Rinoa could break Adel's seal. The disproof of this is that.. Well.. I guess Ultimecia could just be all-knowing, or something, and could've known what to do anyway. :X
Things that definitely seem to point toward it, though.. Are the things that Ultimecia says during the final battle, and the things that Edea says to Rinoa
after inheriting her powers. (Go and revisit the orphanage after Squall and Rinoa make the promise.) During the final battle, I know Ulty said some
things that sounded hauntingly as if she was speaking to Squall. The disprover for that though is that if she knew it was Squall, why was she trying
to kill him? Was she so torn up by grief that she'd want him dead? That part doesn't make sense. =/ Anyway, the "proof" above points out another thing. Sorceresses.. do they age? It's never mentioned, but.. Look at Edea. Look at how young she looks compared to Cid. She looks the same in the ending FMV as she did in Squall's flkashback! O_o;; And Cid looks a hella lot older than she does. (Eww! Gross. ^^;;) So anything about Rinoa's age not corresponding to Ulty's can basically be thrown aside, since Sorceressism may have an effect on age. (Making it nonexhistent, or slow it, or whatever.) And appearance, too. True, Rinoa doesn't look like Ultimecia. But then, Matron doesn't look like Edea - Edea looks completely different with all her creepy makeup and clothing on. So you can't really disprove the theory by looks either.
Another of the used reasons to point to Rinoa being Ultimecia is Griever. Since Rinoa had Squall's ring, and since the Solomon ring summons Doomtrain,
does that mean that Rinoa used Squall's ring to summon Griever? Or did Rinoa-as-Ultimecia just know how important Griever was in Squall's mind, and
so used it as a tactic against him? Ahh, anyway.. I guess the point is, both sides (Rinoa = Ulty or Rinoa Ulty) have good points, so you can basically believe either way. I was going to write more, but then I started getting into time paradoxes O_O;; and got really, really confused, so I had to stop. XP ;) Lol. Return: Etcetera |
