‘Bubble Bunny’ 1.0

Materials: Collage using vintage textbook copies, photograph, poem typography, magazine clippings, cardstock, pen and ink image transfer, Mod Podge, acrylic, pastels, glitter on canvas
This piece (currently unfinished) was created as an entry into a joint art competition by musical artist Kerli and Michelle Nguyen of accessories line Chubby Bunny. Rules were simply to create something to embody the theme “Bubble Bunny”.
I got a little metaphysical, playing with this idea of representing a kawaii-dressing (the ‘Bunny,’ or Chubby Bunny-inspired aspect) nonconformist girl fighting against all surrounding influences to be herself (the ‘Bubble’ or Kerli-inspired aspect).
This is the image that was entered into the contest, although it’s a (yes, Photoshop-modified) scan of the unfinished product; I intend to possibly change something in the background before considering it officially complete. And think of a nice title, because to be honest I don’t really like the sound of ‘Bubble Bunny’ on its own!
